After days of staying silent, more Bollywood celebrities have finally come out in support of students, using Instagram and X to express solidarity and amplify their voices.
Among the biggest names to speak up are Alia Bhatt, Salman Khan, Huma Qureshi and Sonakshi Sinha, followed by Soni Razdan, Shabana Azmi, Prakash Raj, Bhumi Pednekar, Hrithik Roshan, Vishal Dadlani, Anurag Kashyap, Richa Chadha, Riteish Deshmukh, Genelia Deshmukh, Konkona Sen Sharma, Raghav Juyal, Sonu Sood, Nandita Das, Shahana Goswami, Atul Kulkarni, Omi Vaidya, Sandhya Mridul, Kubbra Sait, Dia Mirza, Vir Das, Varun Grover, Ali Fazal, Sayani Gupta, Diljit Dosanjh, Rohit Saraf and Soha Ali Khan, among others.
While many have welcomed these messages of support, many Gen Z fans are disappointed and are questioning the timing. Social media has been flooded with comments suggesting that several celebrities spoke out only after the issue gathered nationwide attention. Some users have even alleged that the posts came under peer pressure or because remaining silent was becoming increasingly difficult. These are views expressed by fans online, and the reasons behind individual celebrities' decisions to post remain their own. Salman Khan's message was trashed by fans, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, Ananya Panday's messages were called vanilla courtesy — and Shahid Kapoor everyone said was the last one to wake up. Gen Z says it's too little too late.
